Paul, there was a time when I thought the Dead sucked too. I can pretty faithfully say though that you probably think they suck because you have never been to a Dead show. I am not a big fan of their studio albums, but there is NO live show quite like a Dead show. In fact, nothing really even close to one. It is important to know that Dead Show's are kind of a way of life and involve much more than JUST the show itself (which once again is always top notch). Pretty much every dead show is also accompanied by days of partying. I would be willing to bet that the main lot at a dead show is about 1000 times bigger and cooler than any party you have ever attended. It is usually so large that even the police do not interfere and just kick back and wait in case someone gets hurt so they can help them. As far as the Dead themselves go, they are an amazingly talented bunch of guys that no other band can hope to even approach. They are the only band that I have ever seen or even heard of that can go out onto stage with no setlist at all, play for hours, and instantly choose between any one of more than 1000 songs and all make the change together in a fluid fashion with no verbal communication. They are the epitomy of what tightness in a band should be. And no, I am not a hippy. I am just a fan of well done music and raw talent. In fact, they are about the only band of that genre I have ever really enjoyed that much. Hell my first show was the original Misfits (before Samhain and the breakups) with the Vandals opening up for them. Even the Slayer show that I mentioned in my first post was South of Heaven. For anyone that does not know Slayer's discography, that is form 20+ years ago before they softened up a bit.

Actually, there is a pretty big difference between Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, and the Slayer albums since then. Not necessarily a bad difference, but a difference none the less.
As for my book writing, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a paragraph or two to communicate what I need to. If you really don't like the longer posts, please feel free to skip over them.
