I really don't like colored paper for fliers unless it adds something to the design. It decreases the amount of contrast that you can have on your flier and they look cheap to me. I really like hand drawn fliers but I never do them. That's way too much work. Maybe when I get a wacom tablet I will do some digitally drawn stuff.

I wonder if people who aren't into design as much as I am really notice good flyers and could really tell them apart from a not-so-great flyer? haha im totally with you ty. Drives me crazy to see a bad flyer that was made with paint or something.

I voted for "They should be aesthetically pleasing" because I really don't want to see fliers that are aesthetically DISpleasing. But, really I've never understood why people so much work into MAKING fliers and so little effort into DISTRIBUTING fliers. I for one have never gone to a show because the flier was neat. If you have quality bands playing at a decent venue for a fair price all you need is a little piece of paper saying such - you can skip the crazy artwork.

I don't think colored paper is the way to go. I always think of some stupid sale. I just don't think people take colored fliers that serious. I also agree with the lack of contrast aspect of fliers. Not the best thing.

Drives me crazy to see a bad flyer that was made with paint or something. I mean, it's funny to see that, I agree. But the point I was making is that a lot of people don't care, and that's worth taking note of. If you have quality bands playing at a decent venue for a fair price all you need is a little piece of paper saying such - you can skip the crazy artwork. See.. I think this is how a lot of people feel, and it's good to know.

I'm a sucker for DYI so I like the ones done by hand but done well. I kept alot of fliers i've liked over that past six or seven years. Alot of them are Morty's alot are hand drawn. DYI = Do Yourself ______ ? For my opinion, I will refer you to clint's post. it is the same. Do Yourself Infinitely (a.k.a fuck yourself) because it was a typo. JUST MESSEN BHAHAAHAHA!

Fliers should be attached to a javelin and thrown at the public by a morbidly obese kid wearing Pauly Bleaker's track uniform.

I posted! I guess I could add that some of my favorite artwork is done by screenprinters in Salt Lake and Portland that do hand made fliers for concerts. I imagine they become posters and pieces of artwork after they are no longer advertisements for a certain show. Hence becoming permanent advertisements for those bands.
