I agree with kelin. Whether or not it is liked, people need to have the choice. Though my band probably doesn't mesh well at a show with metal bands, I think that diversity is also key otherwise we will alienate many.

Sorry, but Metal bands just aren't my cup of tea. I hope I don't sound like dick when I say this....
I don't feel like Metal is the best genre for something like this. I'm really happy that you had a huge turnout at the Metal Massive. I think it's great, but with this Co-op I see participating band decisions as business decisions. Sure I am not making a profit off of something like a Co-op, unless my band sells something, but I just don't see the good in having Metal bands on board.
This Co-op isn't something that would be sponsored by USU, nor would it be something sponsored by TheLoganScene.com. This will be a completely independent organization. It being a Co-op doesn't mean every single person has to be involved. I am not trying to single out Metal, or any other genre for that matter, I just don't feel like Metal fits all that well into the niche of the scene this would be trying to reach. This is something a few friends and I have talked about. So we are deciding which direction to take it.
This whole post may sound like a contradiction to most, but it's not. A Co-op is something anyone can start. Diversity is a great thing to have, and I think this lineup is pretty diverse. Go listen to the bands, they don't really sound the same at all, yet they still fit together.
I too hope we can incorporate some more intense genres into this eventually, but for now, the most user-friendly ones are on-board.
I do understand that every band needs a chance, but I don't feel like I should be held responsible for getting the word out for EVERY band in Logan. Getting upset with me, or having your feelings hurt because I don't involve your band, is pointless. If you want to do something about it, take the initiative yourself. Start something. I see no promotion at all on campus or around town. Get out and do something.
I really like you all and this post wasn't meant to hurt feelings.

Yeah, so maybe a 'Metal Co-op' would be better because Libby Linton (though Robert was in 12 ton Jezus) doesn't really get the kids head banging. Separate but equal... JK really though, then the niches that each person likes could be represented, Like Ska, Reggae, Dub, etc. Pop-Punk, Alt Country, Alcoholism-Rock, etc.

Your post kinda confused me Chris. I think I get it, but I dunno. I'm not trying to be an elitist bully or anything, this is just how I see it. I understand I started this thread for some ideas, and also to get participants, but having a super-huge group of bands isn't really what I personally want. Bigger isn't necessarily better in this situation.
I probably sound like I'm assuming things, but I just want to make things clear.
Once again, this isn't the Independent Music Club, where everyone really should be involved because it's University sponsored. The IMC had hard times involving every band, because of previous incidents (kids getting plastered at the LOOM show IN the TSC.) Now that the IMC is letting every Tom, Dick and Harry play, they are having problems with attendance. If you want something to be successful, you have to pick your spots. Perfect example, The Velour Music Gallery in Provo.

Perfect example, The Velour Music Gallery in Provo. Hey, we're playing there on Friday! I've never been there. Is it pretty cool? Back on the topic, I now see what you are getting at Ben. I was under the impression that you were being an elitist bully with a "you must be this tall to enter" attitude but now I think I get it. I would still like to get my band involved in this if/when you think that would be do-able.
