I remember when you were still peeing the bed, although you were in the 8th grade. Show your elders some respect!

old guys like me always say the scene was better back in the day. that's usually because we had a place in it then, with friends and bands and stake in all of it. the grass is/isn't always greener. scenes like music are fluid. they change and stay the same. don't bitch, and don't forget that most of us never got into the "scene" in the first place because of the coolness of the "scene" already in place. the scene was what we made it. everything is what you make it. local/live/independent/gutsy music/bands/culture still rules and that's the point, so see it and support it wherever and whenever you can. its the struggling scene that needs us. support yours. i like this guy hes cool you should be more like him...

i think another factor to take into consideration with the generations of the scene are the venues.
the theater
pier 49
scooters
the factory
the rendezvous
and NVO
I mean think about it, how sad is it when you hear someone's first show was NVO or something. I mean no doubt thanks for all the people who put on shows at NVO and what not but i'm not going to lie, i am not a fan of NVO.
But just how the generations of the "scene" changes so does the venue.

NVO had been doing shows forever, just under a different name
aka The Blacklist
The Whittier Center was pretty sweet too, steve could tell you all about that.

see but i wasn't apart of the "scene" at the time, and i am sure i missed out on some great shows and great bands, but that just comes w/ the different generations.
