NVO had been doing shows forever, just under a different name aka The Blacklist The Whittier Center was pretty sweet too, steve could tell you all about that. Whittier was pretty cool. I don't know why they stopped having shows there. I know the neighbors complained a bit. We crammed 500 people in there for a Skankn Pickle/Stretch Armstrong/Model Citizen show. It is really easy for me to talk about how great the scene was from 93 to 97 when I was there but that doesn't mean shit today. It comes down to kids who want to promote shows and take the risks today. There are always people who will talk shit about the promoter but I always found that if you break down the costs with each band, everyone will be happy. The only time I had a problem was when The Queers played at the Whittier. They were assholes. Everyone else were pretty cool. There were some pretty big bands that came through the Whittier, Aquabats, Cub, Buck O Nine, Let's go Bowling, Offspring, and of course, the greatest Logan band ever, Chubby Amigos!!! Although I think Mike the Janitor was a close second. We also used to use the jaycee building and the VFW. Don't know if they are still available but they were really cheap to use.
