Uh, every punk band that has ever existed? And to answer my own question, I'm sure it's because they don't have "melodic" guitar strumming and ambient synthesized music over a really slow drum beat. Not to say that music like that isn't cool, but that's not what makes it good. If I had to be really specific, I'd probably have to say Discharge. And to quote Discharge: "Whhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!!!!?!?!!!! ?" edit - I had a thought that pertains to my opinion on this. I like a lot of the "scene" and "emo" music. I'm down with it. But seriously, the lyrical content has gotten depressingly bad. It has, for the most part, started to sound like a monologue in a really bad movie. It's not artistic or original to write the same high school style poetry and put it to music. It's been done before. Discharge has awesome lyrics. Short, sweet, and to the point. Why: Besides her man she kneels Holds him tight and begins to cry Why why why but why Her loved one's just another piece of meat On the battlefields Why why why but why Her cries break out into screams As she now becomes hysterical with grief Why why why but why Her loved one's just another piece of meat On the battlefields Why why why but why The Nightmare Continues: And still men and women drag out their lives in misery The nightmare continues Blinded disfigured and mentally scarred The nightmare continues Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing: Lied to threatened cheated and deceived Hear nothing see nothing say nothing Led up garden paths and into blind alleys Hear nothing see nothing say nothing The Final Bloodbath The smell of death is near Its presence ever near The final bloodbath is coming It is just around the corner Tell me that doesn't provoke some mental imagery and thoughts.

because if we didn't hate, we'd love... and if we all loved, than we'd have to many babies... and who wants a lot of babies. Love is not about making babies. Too many babies just means a lot of sex without "planning", if you know what I mean.

For some things that works... but not them. I could probably say the same thing about a handful of things in your collection. Don't deny how good Kirk Hammet and James Hetfield are, plus they're new bassist used to play in suicidal tendencies and also played to the wonder Zakk Wylde. Lars Ulrich still sucks though. Don't rag on Metallica if you've never listened to them, which I'm willing to bet money you don't know more than what you've heard on MTV. You are right, I have listened to hardly any metallica, mainly do to the fact that when I listen to it, I feel sick. I'm not saying they aren't talented... I'm just saying that I think the music sucks.

I hate the word "emo" its overgeneralized and for the most part the stereotype of the music and the people is very in accurate, but if i went by the stereotype i would have to say those are some really emo lyrics my friend. mine would be Kings of Leon. they are amazing. but people...don't get on board for some reason. I love Kings of Leon. I've loved them the first time I heard Molly's Chambers three years ago. I was hooked. I understand that not everyone will like them. If you hate them I don't really care. I don't like metallica because they are big cry babies. Boo hoo Napster.

That's why the word "emo" is in quotes. I don't like that word much either, it is far too general and stupid. edit - And I don't really think that discharge's lyrics can even come close to falling into the stereotypical "emo" lyrics. They're all about war.

Here's something for you, post a band that you listen to that everybody seems to hate, and ask why. Mine would have to be Metallica. Why does every one hate Metallica? cuz metallica are a buch of whiney bitches who only care about the money, and the only reason anyone likes them is because they are "supposed" to like them, see if you dont like metallica you arnt metal, it really makes perfect sence

Well, for anyone that likes heavy music of any type, I would say that it would be a shame to "hate" Metallica. For one, they helped ushewr in an era of music that paved the way for a lot of what we "like" today. Do you have to love their new stuff? Hell no. do you have to love their old stuff? Hell no. Should you respect them for all they brought to the industry for us? Hell yes.
As for them being whiney bitches.... I think that Metallica was 110% correct in their standing up for themselves on the whole "Napster" issue. In fact, the onlt thing that I hate is the general public who condemn them for standing up for their rights. None of us actually know any of the details. None of us are relying on income form album sales. None of us know just how much or how LITTLE most of these bands make on their own stuff. I guess its a lot different when you are trying to make your living in the music industry. Consumers seem to think that they have a right to have it all, have it now, and have it how they want it. I make my living in the industry and I see how these issues affect and can affect others who also make their living in the industry. I am glad Metallica took a stand because it brought focus to an ever growing problem that needed attention. Any one that can not see that just isn't involved in the music industry, but is involved as an end user who is stealing from someone else.
For Dan, I would never want you to love Metallica because you are "supposed" to. However, you do not know whether or not they are whiney bitches, so maybe you should not be mentioning that. You also do not know whether or not they only care about money. My bet is all that you know is what was included in some exaggerated uninformed sixth hand heresay or some overhyped media blitz. Even more than that, you might not be so willing to let something like that go if it directly affected your income, lifestyle etc...
As for the Kings of Leon, they are a pretty good band with some definate talent and potential. Personally I do not care for them, but I like their music. When dealing with them they were a bunch of little prissy primadonna's that in my opinion had no right or merit to be that way, especially given current circumstances. But, there is no doubt that they perform fairly well, and have some good music.
So what band do I hate? None really. I like music. Some I certainly like more, and some less. In the end however, I love music. Who am I to say what is good and what is bad? Thats the beautiful thing about music..... there is only what you do and don't like, but not really what is good or bad...
