RESEARCH IT BITCH. with napolean dynamite it was horribly played out and i had to try to sell merchandise for WAYYY too long. with Greenday...i have never really been a fan. talented bunch of men, but shitty music. i listen to Warning...and fucking hated it. Blink 182 was my pop punk phase and i will still listen to them over Greenday...any day of the week. but, would i resort to that...no. Harry Potter i'm not that annoyed of. i like those movies

Well, it all goes back to trends I think. It seems to be more prevelant amongst younger people, but definately exists in all walks of life and all age groups. It reminds me of the whole "alternative" lifestyle thing. Is it really that "alternative" when it has become such a trend, and even a huge industry at that? For so long all of the punk rock kids bucked society. They all complain about how they are stereotyped and treated unfairly, but then turn right around and categorize other people and treat them the same way. Now you have places like Hot Topic (not that I have a problem with them... I actually have 20 year old ties with them) that have made a living of those kids. It happens with every scene. Eventually a scene will grow, and before it is the very same as the things it was originally started to revolt against and a new trend or "click" is started in opposition as the old one.

Because Hot Topic is a symbol opf corporate success and too many kids blindly hate anything that symbolizes things corporate or successful... even though these things also are apparent in many aspects of their life.... It is exactly this hypocrisy that I find so amusing....

I love how the most intelligent and non-biased comments on this board is completely dismissed by little teeny bopper kiddies that insist on showing off their epeen and trying to convince us they know what music is good and what isn't.
Rob, you can rant to me any day.

Defender Dan... I went to the anti Wal Mart site and read through most all of it. I can certainly understand how people may not like Wal Mart. That is their choice and/or right to feel as such.
However, that site in my opinion is horribly filled with holes. I am no expert in these matters, but for every single argument or "fact" that they had to show against WalMart I was able to find one or more reasons to defend against that "fact" in a matter of seconds. In fact, I was surprised at how they presented the whole thing. They immediately accuse Wal Mart of trying to bend and twist facts and represent them always in a way that is favorable to Wal Mart. The hypocritical aspect of this is that they have done the exact same thing from start to stop on their website. What I see as a bigger problem here is how some people view themselves as american citizens. People like the ones in charge of WalMart666 have some real inner searching to do I think. They are obviously angry about something and are trying to cover it up with Patriotism? This is what is really damaging our country. Wal Mart is not operating any differently than hundreds of other businesses that these people DO support. Why is it that people seem to want to have their freedom and their rights as american citizens, but then turn around and vocalize how wrong it is when someone else excercises their rights?
As americans we all have the right to freedom of speech, free press, freedom of religion etc... Also as americans however we do have the right to be succesful. Why is it that when someone like Bill Gates or corporations like Wal Mart reach that status that we all of a sudden take issue with that? I am not saying that those people are all "innocent" and should be "heroes", but the public needs to address the real problem here which is the general public. The problem with all of these things starts at home and with consumers etc... not the corporations. If you really want things to change you need (by you I mean all of us, noone in specific) to start focusing on the PROBLEM, and not the SYMPTOM.

i completely agree that all their facts dont really line up this site was made by bitter people, who want to make walmart look as low as it can but i still wont shop there they may not be the only ones who are doing this, but they are the biggest force in it (that was also metioned on the site) i just put the site on to point out why people hate walmart i dont have that much agenst walmart, i wont shop there, but its not like im fighting them
the thing is how successful should corperations be allowed to become. it will soon be an offical monopoly in a few short years. something must be done about coperations such walmart

I don't find it reasonable to believe walmart will ever be a monopoly. There will always be local business. I shop at Lee's probably more than I shop at walmart, because it has a different "shopping" environment, if you will. AND, even if another walmart opens, sure it might hurt the income of a few local stores, but in that process it creates a lot of jobs.
In any situation, there will always be positive side-affects as well as negative side-affects, and in this case the positive is more generally economical than the negative.
If you don't support walmart, than you support more expensive food. Its that simple.

First off, I don't support Wal-Mart in a small buisness community. It totally blows away all the hard work these people have put in to their multigeneration stores. They have worked so hard to keep these buisnesses up and running all these years for a Wal-Mart or other large store to come in and with the power of convienience, put these stores out of buisness. I'd also like to thank xstatic to bringing respect back to disscussions.
