Amen. I understand the reason we have cops, there are those people out there that, if they didn't have someone keeping them from it, they would commit crimes of the worst nature. But I also agree that some cops exploit their authority in some cases, and ticket quotas are stupid, if people are commiting crimes police should do what needs to be done, but they shouldn't have to find people, or in some cases frame people. Cops are needed in some cases, but sometimes they exploit their authority.

being hippocritical is ok sometimes. i admit there are some cool cops, not much though, and that they were CREATED for good reasons, but these days they enforce some bullshit laws. and whining may do anything, but it sure is fun.

Things to do: Know your rights. When a cop comes up to you and asks "can I talk to you?", if you agree you are giving consent to interrogation. It is always best to say "I'm busy" or "I'm in a hurry, sorry." This does not admit guilt. Also, NEVER consent to a search. Cops are legally allowed to pat you down to check for weapons, but weapons ONLY. If he feels any other suspicious items on you, you DO NOT have to show him. Do NOT consent to a body search. Of course, rights don't really matter to cops. Someone needs to set up a CopWatch group to try to reduce police harrassment. Also, I've read that in some cases people have set up Community Watch areas where a certain neighborhood or group of houses police themselves and insure safety without city pigs. I don't know how that works though. For cool writings and tangible resources, www.crimethinc.com/police/

So he asks if he can check you for weapons, he starts patting you down, he feels a pipe, and if he asks if he can see it you just say "No, It's not a weapon, you have no right to search it"?

Personally, I find that some of the cops only take the job to be on power trips. They boost their egos by giving young people lame-ass tickets. Shame on cops.

Just thought I let ya'll know- I got a speedin ticket last night. evidentally I got clocked doin 78ish in a 50. But if any of you have seen my truck, it can't break 63 (I've tried so many times too). But the Officer was a pretty cool guy, we talked for like five mins after he ticketed my trash about the superbowl. I think that if he was 30 years younger and not wearin a badge I would hang with him! But the piont of this was that I wasn't goin that fast.... dick
