I've never even been to Why Sound? From what I understand it seems like a cool place for like some sweet a-cue-stick jammy-jams but not so much for whole big-ol'-rock-out-rock band. Yes? And if that is not the case, how does one go about being put on a show there?

And no, that first sentence is not meant to be a question. It is meant to be a statement of fact.

So, is it this:
Or this:
?
I like the idea of waiting until a week before a show to sticky it, but I don't think that responsibility should be foisted upon a mod.
As a show attender, it does not help me to have constant promotion of a show for a month, because I get used to seeing the threads and then I forget the dates because they always seem far away until they're over. If why sound posts their monthly schedule to give us a taste of what's coming up, then waits until about a week before to post individual shows, I think it would be their best marketing method.
But that's not to say that they should be forced into doing anything. It would just be clever on their part because I wouldn't lose sight of all the shows they post. It's up to them what they want to do. If they don't want their own section don't give it to them, even if it would make sense and probably even help them.
That's my two cents.

I agree with Regina. Some minor changes/ideas: People ought to post their show two or three weeks in advance, and if a Moderator forgets to sticky it a week prior to, then all the promoter needs to do is send a private message to a moderator to do so. It's not that hard for moderators to do this.. I wouldn't think anyway.
Seriously, if a promoter wants to create excitement for their show... post your flyer a few weeks prior to the show just to get the word out. But flyer and promote hard a week prior to the show, that's what generates excitement.

It's both Reggie. Why Sound does have a lot of shows that I just plain don't care about, but that doesn't mean I don't want to support them. I really would love to attend as many shows as I can to offer my support, but I'm not going to take the time out of my schedule if I don't care about a lot of them. It's not me kicking Why Sound to the curb when I say this all, it's just me wishing they had more to offer to me as far as local (Utah) shows go.

First, lawl to regina.
Second, I like Jonas's solution.
Third, if you were to give whysound their own category, House Parties/misc should have a category, the Smithfield Theater should have a category, and the IMC should too. And whatever else deemed necessary. But I personally don't like the idea of just giving a section to Whysound due to fairness.

No, Why Sound does not think separating our schedule would be the right thing to do, or do we believe it would help us or the music scene in Logan. Any forum that is dedicated to the scene in Logan can not start separating all the shows/venues into categories. It seems that certain people want to separate Why Sound so they can promote their own shows with out any competition. This is not the way to unify the scene. We believe it is only fair that all shows should be allowed to share the same space, so people can decide for themselves what they want to attend.
Regina has stated it the best. We post our monthly schedule and then post important shows about a week out. This would be a fair policy to anybody doing shows around town.

I think this is kind of a silly thread for the following reasons:
1) only about 8 people actually use this website, and they all know how to navigate the "loganscene" section.
B) whether or not Why Sound has it's own section or not has absolutely NOTHING to do with scene unity.
And Lastly) nobody has answered my questions (posted above) yet! COME ON!!!

It seems that certain people want to separate Why Sound so they can promote their own shows with out any competition. I agree that all venues and promotional organizations should be given fair treatment, and either everyone has their own section, or they all share the same section. However, I think you assumed a little bit regarding Ben's motives. I can't read his mind or predict his motives, but I really don't think it's about competition. He's right, the show section has just gotten a bit cluttered. I love you Josh, but this is kinda in your hands and you're failing to do anything about it.

Ben, unfortunately it does sound like you kicking Why Sound to the curb, a lot of your responses on this forum come off that way. We have more local (Utah) shows then anybody in the valley. Do you ever actually look at our schedule? I would bet you don’t even know which bands/acts are local. There are a lot more then you think. You don’t care about most of our show because you don’t know anything about them. If you are genuinely interested we would be happy to give you all the info you need.
