slugger i tried to make it simple. its not that hard to get.
Music- I hate when good old bands come out with new cd's tht suck. movies- old scary movies are funny and freaky, new ones are stupid but make you jumpie. Video games- duck hunt may be old but i would play it any day over some game like halo. Clothes- they don't make clothes as good of quality as they used to, vintage is better. Food- old leftovers only good for a day or so i say. old home cooking is so much better then fast food. Town- logan is better. It keeps growing i hope its never as big as others. presidents- Bush was so bad and we lost so much hope with him that people trust Obama to much with out question, not that he wont do great. but freedom of speech was muffled with warm fuzzy feelings with Obama. i'm to much of a practical sceptic to go with the flow. Dance styles- they have changed so much over the times. i would rather ballroom dance or swing then shake my ass. haha economy- it keeps goin down over time. jobs are less and less to come by. Growing up- babies are so amazing to watch them see or do new things for the first time, old people act like babies and annoy me at work. its weird to see how times, the world, technology in general have changed. we have it so easy compared 60, or even 10 years ago.

Music: I agree, to an extent, about the aggravation of bands coming out with new albums I don't enjoy as much as their older stuff. But there's also quite a few albums (and artists) I've hated when I first listened to them--but are now some of my favorite bands. So I try to keep an open mind, even if I don't enjoy it at first. Videogames: I don't see how Duck Hunt and Halo are that different honestly. Would Halo appeal to you more if you were holding a gun controller (like in the classic Duck Hunt game)? I mean, they're really variations of the same thing: shooting games. The biggest difference is that in Halo the environment is more immersive, and the "ducks" shoot back at you. Personally I love newer games. The stories are more intricate and involved and--depending on the game--play like a really good book unfolding right before you. I don't make graphics a point in the videogames I play, since I generally play for the story, but newer games definitely have a nicer look to them--obviously. A lot of newer games, especially big name releases like Final Fantasy, Halo, Half Life, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, etc, have fantastic soundtracks and music to them, that in many cases can hold their own or excel compared to movie soundtracks or even the latest music releases. Food: Leftovers (old) are good until they're bad! But fresh food (new) is always better, of course. And I agree that homemade meals are far superior to fast food. Anything is superior to fast food. Towns: I like Logan better now than I used to, definitely. I am enjoying the development we have going on here. There's definitely a fine line though. I think with a few real bars and clubs, and a few places open late at night (like a nice cafe, lounge area, or restaurant--not wal-mart or betos!) the town would be pretty much perfect. Perhaps a couple more entertainment venues for music and theatre. On the other hand though, there's nothing like the old feel of a place rich in history. Dance styles: I really have no opinion of older or newer dance styles. I like to rock out. Or skank. That's about all I know. Swing is fun, but I can't do it to save my life. Ballroom dancing is awkward and boring--in most cases. growing up: Older people are babies. It usually gets to a point where they need constant care, sometimes don't have full control over their body and it's functions, and can have trouble communicating with other people. It's kind of funny, aging backwards or forwards really wouldn't change anything. But I still enjoy both kids and the elderly. Just as long as I am enjoying them on my time and my schedule. ~~ No matter how you dice things though, we definitely have it better now than 10, 50, or 100 years ago. And the next 10, 50, and 100 years are going to be even more fascinating. For the most part I'd have to say: out with the old and in with the new. :-P

how am I being "condescending"? some things are better new, some are better old. things are more easy then they used to be dose not mean they are better. we take so much for granted cause it comes so easy.

I liked the old scene where everyone was happy, well mostly. I take that back. I guess if we were all truly happy we probably wouldn't be hanging out with people within a 5 mile radius of each of us online, maybe in real life?

The problem with this thread is that trends repeat themselves every few decades. What's new IS old. I call it the Old-Is-Hip Curse. Here are my examples to back this up: Music: It sounds like 4 out of 5 bands record their music in a garbage can to get that "vintage analog" sound. We have the technology to make music sound great AND squeaky clean! USE IT! Oh, I forgot it loses it's "authenticity" that way. What a joke... Also, if you were to read an interview with almost any popular group, they would say that their biggest influences are classic rock bands. My band isn't much different. We are definately influenced by The Beatles. The difference is we aren't trying to sound EXACTLY LIKE them, we just try to write really catchy, listenable songs like they did. Movies: A lot of movies you see today are either A) a remake of an older movie or B) the movie version of a novel or comic book that has been around for decades. New idea movies, like Juno (personal favorite), have a great story line BUT uses horrible ("vintage analog") music and the title character is obsessed with older music and dresses in "vintage" clothing, so it doesn't really escape the Old-Is-Hip Curse. Video Games: Maybe the only part of pop culture that is moving forward. Everybody loves and respects the classics, but let's be honest; For how fun NBA Jam 1993 was, Inside The NBA 2K9 dominates it. Duck hunt is great, but it's stupid to even mention it in the same sentence as Halo (like I just did... damn). Clothes: I'm not sure if you are asking about individual articles of clothing or fashion in general, mellowmarie. I'm going with fashion. I hate how you can't buy a pair of jeans without them already being ruined. I don't need my jeans to come ripped and dirty. I'm sure after a few years of use I will have accomplished that myself! But, that's the point. They are supposed to look "used" and "vintage". It only gets worse in the music scene. Do you know who started the current "indie pop" fashion? They are called The Cure - a band from when? The 1980's. Food: Has food changed much over the years? This is a wierd topic for the thread, but I'll take home-cooked meat and potatoes (insert sex joke here) over Wendy's any day of the week. Towns: This is another odd one. I noticed you put Logan and Cali as the two you want discussed. First of all, Logan is technically a metropolitan area. It is a city, not a town. Also, Cali(fornia) is a state, not a town. I personally like to visit Cali and love living in Utah (I don't live in Logan anymore). Presidents: Too early to say if Obama is better than Bush. But it's hard to think he could be worse. Dance Styles: I don't dance, so I have no idea. I do remember when people went to shows and either skanked or moshed. Now it seems that if you even bump into someone during a concert you are a rude freak. I think that dancing at a concert (other than to an obviously dance-heavy band) is stupid, but it beats the crap out of just standing there doing nothing. Change In General: As I said in my opening paragraph - pop culture doesn't change; it just recylces itself. Economy: Uhhhhhh.... jobs are good and unemployment is bad!.... Growing Up: Some parts suck and some parts rule. All in all, I like being an adult a lot more than being a kid/teenager.

Jonzey- about the music, movies, clothes, and presidents i could not agree with you more. video games yes the graphics are better however duck hunt was simple not something you would devote your life to or sit inside all day on a sunday and play, well not most 99 percent of people. I do think food has changed a lot. its a lot harder to eat healthy and its easier to eat dinner from a dollar menu then to take the time to make dinner your self. and everything is low in any nutritional value and people wonder why they suck down diet pills like skittles. i cook most every night. towns i agree, i have no idea why i put that in there. Slugger- thats fine if you refuse to post about this topic. no one told you had to. even more you don't have to tell us what you hate you have already made that very clear. everything. tehe!

I disagree with the "squeaky clean" music concept. I think there's a character and quality of sound that goes missing with too much digital. I don't have a problem with produced and clean sounding music, but I like it when you can hear the character of the individual instruments, and I don't think that the character can be adequately captured with a whole bunch of 0110000111000001111s.
